Sebitoli Book Kids, Kibale, UgandaIf you are unable to make a financial contribution we have a wish list of items that would be a tremendous help to the project.  Below are some suggestions,  if you have something different that you would like to donate please contact us directly and we can discuss if it would be appropriate.

*******A laptop computer for the project manager*******

The KFWP is very much in need of one laptop computer for the project manager, Margaret Kemigisa.  Margaret has been working in the field of conservation for over ten years. She was the first female research assistant in Kibale, and is a trained primary school teacher.  In addition to managing the KFWP, she helped to establish local environmental clubs and woman’s crafts groups, leading the way in her community to a sustainable and harmonious relationship with the National Park.

The laptop would allow her to create monthly financial and project reports, assist in the documentation and analysis of educational competitions and surveys, and generally allow for better communication between the directors in the US and the rest of the staff in Uganda.

Additionally, the KFWP is in need of the following items:

  • Books (Field guides, science, history, art, reference, story books, anything related to animals). Basically, we are NOT looking for text books but will consider anything else.
  • Magazines (Audubon, National Geographic, Discover, Scientific American, Ranger Rick, Zoobooks, Smithsonian, etc.)
  • Calendars, posters, etc. (We use photos and landscapes to decorate and theme our science centers).
  • Binoculars, magnifying glasses, microscopes, slides, etc.
  • Puzzles (animal or nature related)
  • Markers, drawing pencils, watercolor paints
  • Stickers
  • Coloring books
  • Airline miles for travel
  • Solar powered or hand crank items, e.g. flashlights, radios, cell phone chargers, etc.

Volunteers are also needed to help with work on the ground in Uganda – click here for more details.
